American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Spokane, Relay For Life of Spokane Valley, Relay For Life of Cheney - a community-organized event designed to celebrate victories over cancer, remember those lost to cancer, and to fight back against cancer through fund-raising and education; committee members plan the event and teams organize activities and fund-raisers prior to and at the event. Cancer Resource Center - a volunteer-run program to offer resources and support to cancer patients and their families; programs are housed at Deaconess, Valley Hospital, and Cancer Care Northwest.  Reach To Recovery - breast cancer survivors are matched up with newly diagnosed breast cancer patients to offer support and resources. Office Support - volunteers help fold brochures, stuff envelopes, and do other supportive tasks. Reach to Recovery volunteers must be at least a one-year breast cancer survivor.
American Red Cross Disaster Action Team (DAT) Responder: Provide emergency response to local disasters, particularly home fires, ensuring that those affected have basic necessities such as food, shelter, and clothing. First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor:  Provide lifesaving skills instruction throughout the community.  After completion of training, volunteers will be able to teach and train on First Aid/CPR/AED, Community Disaster Education & Preparedness, Safe Baby, Family Caregiving and Red Cross Ready Courses. Service to the Armed Forces - Spokane VA Medical Center:  Our Visiting Vets cart is filled with comfort kits, snacks, games, and a variety of other fun and useful items designed to provide comfort to hospitalized veterans.  Volunteers visit with veterans, give out goodies, and provide support and camaraderie to these important men and women that have served our country. Public Affairs Volunteer:  The role of the Public Affairs volunteer is to share the Red Cross story with the community.  Volunteers provide information to media outlets and act as a spokesperson for the Red Cross while on the scene of a disaster All volunteers must complete and pass a criminal background check.
Boys & Girls Club          
Campfire USA Inland Northwest Council Become a Club Leader or Mentor for youth in your neighborhood. Volunteer at camp in the summer. Volunteer at large council sponsored events or camp clean ups. Join a training team to promote safe, fun, age appropriate outdoor opportunities for youth workers and organizations providing outdoor and outcome based programs to youth. All volunteers working with youth must be able to pass a criminal background check and submit 4 personal references.

Community Minded Enterprises 8/15/09 - Unity in the Community, belives in promoting Unity through showcasing diversity. This event is held at Riverfront park and was attended by over. This is a great way to bring the whole city together. We need volunteers to participate in the planning process as well as the actual day of the event. Please contact us for more information.  Health for All is in need of ongoing volunteers to assist in their call center.  This is open to anybody of any age, if under 18 we do need a signed release and is open to people with disabilities as well.  CMTV, our community based television station is always looking for volunteers to assist with their productions and also welcomes people to come in with their own ideas and we will assist you in creating your own productions. This is open to anybody of any age, if under 18 we do need a signed release and is open to people with disabilities as well.   Project MOVE is putting on a one-time Community Awareness Film and Art event on Saturday, May 2nd at the Saranac Bldg.  We will need some volunteers to staff a table at the Bloomsday Trade show on Friday, 5/1 and Saturday, May 2nd.  Those volunteers will be promoting the Saturday event at the Saranac and Magic Lantern, handing out flyers about the event, and perhaps talking to folks about the benefits of mentoring. 

The volunteers could be people with or without disabilities, and pretty much any age. If they are under 18 yrs old, they would need an adult with them. 
The Bloomsday Trade show will be at the Convention Center. The times are flexible, but we need to man the table both Friday and Saturday all day, into the early evening.
We could coordinate 2-4 hr. shifts for people.

Horizon Hospice Direct patient care, companionship, and support. We have fun one time events such as yard care for a family, a telethon, or flower delivery.     Volunteers must pass a background check, complete TB testing, and training.
Inland Northwest Blood Center Epicurean Delight - Epicurean Delight features the most exquisite restaurants, paired with the finest wineries and microbreweries in the Inland Northwest.  Volunteers are needed to help with set up and to staff the event in various positions throughout the evening.   Canteen - nearly 70 volunteers are needed each week to support the needs of our fixed site and mobile operations.  Canteen volunteers serve donor refreshments and assist with donor adverse reactions. Tele-Recruitment - Tele-Recruiters are needed to help maintain a safe inventory of blood products.  Tele-Recruiters help by calling existing blood donors to let them know of upcoming blood drives or low inventory. 1) Courier - Volunteer couriers are needed to transport blood products from our mobile operations back to our regional headquarters lab.   2) Courier - Volunteers are needed to travel in INBC vehicles to area blood mobiles and bring blood back to our Regional Headquarters office for processing in the lab. All volunteers must complete and pass a criminal background check.
Interfailth Hospitality Network of Spokane (IHN) Morning volunteers - Monday through Friday 7:00-9:00, open Day Center and answer phones       All volunteers must complete and pass a criminal background check.
Lutheran Community Services NW Volunteer Advocates  Take two on-call and two back up crisis line shifts per month.  Provide crisis intervention information and referral via the crisis line.  Provide legal and medical advocacy via telephone and in person when called out to hospital, police interviews, etc.       Volunteers must commit to two weekend or evening shifts per month, complete a comprehensive 35 hour training, have access to a vehicle, and be able to pass a background check.
Martin Luther King Jr Outreach Center          
Meals on Wheels Mid-City Delivering meals to homebound elderly on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis throughout Spokane.  This is Monday-Friday. Delivering coolers with meals in them to a pick up site at Avista utilities on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.  This is Monday-Friday Delivering dog and cat food to homebound individuals on a monthly basis.  This is a monthly event on the last Saturday of the month. Assisting with the senior center kitchen duties on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.  This is Monday-Friday basis Must be able to pass a background check without having any convictions concerning harm against another person.
Mobius Kids Mixing for Mobius Fundraising Event Friday 10/2 6-9pm at Northern Quest Casino. Volunteers are needed to assist with our silent auction and general duties during the event.   Mobius Kids Santa Breakfast Fundraiser at the Davenport Hotel. Saturday, December 5 from 8-11am.  Volunteers are needed to assist with our silent auction, welcome guests, and general duties during the event. Help make a difference in lives of children at Mobius Kids!  Volunteers are an essential part of the Mobius Kids team, and we have opportunities to suit almost every schedule and interest.  Volunteers have the ability to interact with children, help maintain exhibits, lead art activities, assist with camps & classes and much more!  We are looking for people 14 years old and older to share their time and talents by volunteering at Mobius Kids   Volunteers  must pass a criminal background check to volunteer at Mobius Kids
National M.S. Society, Inland Northwest Chapter WalkMS - assisting with preparing, promoting, and carrying out WalkMS the first Sunday of April. BikeMS - assisting with preparing, promoting, and carrying out BikeMS the second weekend in September. OctoBREWfest - assisting with preparing, promoting, and carrying out OctoBREWfest. Office help, serving on various committees and programs.  
Odyssey Youth Center          
Pine Lodge Correction Center Internship opportunities available. One day Family Friendly and Family Reunification events need volunteers. Mentors needed to establish positive mentoring relationships with women prior to and after their release. AA/NA looking for volunteers to provide meetings inside the prison. Must be 18 years of age.  Criminal background check.  4-5 hour mandatory training provided.  References checked.
Post Falls Food Bank          
Project HOPE Garden work days: beginning in April and various opportunities thorugh October.  Visit our website for more information. Board of Directors: 2 year commitment, monthly meetings at a minimum, fundraising, passion for at-risk youth, application needed. Jobs-not-Jails Advisory Committee: meets once/month, vision for job creation for youth in West Central Spokane. Riverfront Farm Advisory Committee: meets once/month and has hands-on participation and planning for the details of urban agriculture in West Central. Most of the work is with youth, so typical background checks are required.
Rebuilding Together Spokane National Rebuilding Day - Held annually on the last Saturday in April, RT Spokane and community volunteers work to rehabilitate a home or non-profit facility.  No cost to homeowner or non-profit organization and all work is completed in just one day! October Project - Renovate and rehabilitate a home or non-profit facility in the Spokane area.   All work usually done in just one day!     No volunteers under 14 years of age.
Rockwood South Hill Be a PRIDE Friend (Personal Rewards through Involvement Dedication and Education) by visiting residents in the Health Care Center. Plan an event or activity from conception to implementation. Provide musical entertainment for residents. Serve as a Pastoral Assistant by helping design weekly church bulletins (computer skills necessary for this opportunity). Volunteers must complete and pass a criminal background check.  Volunteers must also undergo a TB test.
RSVP of Spokane County COPS & scope law enforcement volunteers Project Warm-Up knitting and crocheting items for low income members of our community, supplies are provided. Various - we partner with over 150 government and nonprofit agencies throughout Spokane valley. Reading Corps tutor for all ages Depends on the agency where they volunteer.  We help connect them.

SHIBA/Aging & Long Term Care of WA Counselor - Volunteers are trained by the WA State Insurance Commissioner's office to provide information and counseling to individuals regarding health insurance. Outreach Team - Volunteers make presentations and/or deliver materials to community members to increase awareness of the program.     Volunteers must pass a criminal background check.  They can have no current affiliation for gain with any insurance company.
Shriners Hospital for Children Positions in recreation therapy, front desk office work in various departments. Special events held by Public Relations both within and outside of the hospital.      
SNAP (Spokane Neighborhood Action Programs) Eastern Washington Ombudsman Program Teaching Life Skills classes Providing maintenance for SNAP low income property Living Green - Conservation classes and events Criminal background, age, availability, individuals under 18 must have parental permission or be accompanied by parent.
Spokane COPS Front Desk, Spokane C.O.P.S foremost program is Front Desk.  Equipped with a telephone, radio scanner, computer, the Internet, email, databases and resource booklets, the average volunteer has all manner of resources to assist members of the community with their concerns. Neighborhood Observation Patrol: The Neighborhood Observation Patrol promotes citizens' identification and reporting of suspicious or unlawful activity in their community.  N.O.P. volunteers are trained by the Spokane Police Department in areas of safety, patrol procedures, communications, first aid, and basic law.  Volunteers use their own vehicles which are equipped with cell phone, police scanner, flashlight, binoculars, first aid kit, and reflective vests.  The vehicles also display reflective signs which identify them  as N.O.P. patrols. Operation Family ID (OFID):  Operation Family Identification (OFID) is a community service program administered by Spokane C.O.P.S in collaboration with the Spokane Police Department and S.C.O.P.E. (Sheriff's Community Oriented Policing Effort).  Identification kits include a digital photograph saved on a floppy disk and fingerprints  The kits are given to participating families.  In the event a loved one comes up missing, a family member can forward the critical information quickly to local law enforcement agencies for the production of flyers and even nationwide distribution. Substation needs marketing and promotion ideas (fundraising, etc)  this is an on-going need.  Each substation also needs volunteers with some computer knowledge for our data entry with many programs; Block Watch, McGruff Safe House, Operation Family ID, statistical record keeping. to name a few. Pass a criminal background check.  To volunteer for Front Desk and most programs, volunteer must be 18+ years.  Some programs use under 18 with volunteer supervision.  College internships and high school community service projects welcome
Spokane County Juvenile Court Neighborhood Accountability Board/Diversion - Determing fair disposition for first and second time juvenile offenders. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) - Advocate for aboused, neglected and abandoned children. Mentor Program - Mentor detained youth.   Criminal background check - no convictions within the last 10 years.   Volunteers must be over 21 years of age.
Spokane Falls Community College          
Spokane Mental Health First Call for Help volunteers work a minimum of one, four hour shift each week.  Volunteers receive approximately 30 hours of training in crisis de-escalation, suicide assessment, mental health and drug and alcohol issues, suport listening skills, and community resources.  Training is offered at various times to accomodate the volunteer's schedule.  Volunteers also learn skills in operating multi-line phones, computer equipment and various software programs.  First Call for Help volunteers learn skills to appropriately triage calls from consumers, family members, and community professionals and determine the needs of the individual.       Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and must pass a Criminal Background Check.

Spokane Service Team We offer full-time AmeriCorps positions in construction training and at local non-profits. We offer part-time AmeriCorps Education Award only positions in which the members volunteer and track their hours with us in order to gain an Education Award.     Must pass a criminal background check

Volunteers of America - Crosswalk Alexandria's House - a transitional living program for six pregnant and/or parenting teenage mothers.  Volunteers may: tutor our mos, help take care of babies, teach life skills or crafts, assita with weekly shopping or help youth plan and execute community service projects.  Contact Jill at 509-459-0349 or jstaples@voaspokane.org Aston Bleck Apartments - a transitional living apartment for young mothers and their children.  Volunteers are needed to help with childcare, yard work, tutoring or upkeep projects and to serve as a positive role model/mentors.  Contact Sara at 509-535-8267 or smack@voaspokane.org. 1) Crosswalk - a multi-service center for at-risk and homeless teens ages 13-17.  Our services include case management, three meals a day, clothing, a GED program and an overnight shelter.  Contact Kerry at 509-838-6596 ext. 111 or kmccruden@voaspokane.org.     2) Groups of 3-5 people are needed to help prepare and serve meals for our teens.  Volunteers plan the menu and provide the food that they serve.  Weekday lunches (Monday - Thursday) are for 35-40 people.  All other meals are for 25 people. Volunteers of America - Hope House Shelter Intake Specialist, 7:30 - 10:30 pm.  Assist staff with check-in of shelter guests, supervision, preparation of evening meal and cleaning of shelter.  Experience with at risk and homeless populations a benefit.  Clothing Bank Monitor, 1:00 - 4:00 pm.  Provide monitoring of Clothing Bank and to sort donations into appropriate categories.  Hang up and put away clothing in Clothing Bank.  Experience with at risk and homeless populations a benefit. Receptionist, 9:00 - 1:00 pm or 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm (Monday through Friday).  Perform general reception and secretarial duties; answering phones, taking messages, providing information about the shelter and clothing bank to callers.  Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. Shelter Discharge Coordinator, 6:30 - 8:30 am.  Assista staff with waking up shelter guests, preparing morning snacks, supervision and check-out.  Experience with at risk and homelss populations a benefit.  Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. Must pass a criminal background and reference check.  Must be 18 years or older. If you had a previous association with Hope House, must be over 1 year since that association.
Whitworth University          
Women's & Children's Free Restaurant Fundraisers and/or Community Partners. Serving, dishwashing, prep cooking, organizing, fresh market assistants, office assistance and committee work.     A volunteer applicant must pass a criminal background check, only a few opportunities for men, must be able to stand for duration of shift, must be capable lifting up to 20 lbs.
Women's Hearth (Transitional Programs for Women) Transitions Golf Tournament  every June.  Volunteer inquiries may be made at the Transitions office at 328-6702. Transitions annual People Who Care Helping Women Who Dare Breakfast and Lunch events each fall.   Women's Hearth Floor Presence:  Assist staff in providing a supportive presence to women visiting the Women's Hearth.  Interact with women in a warm and accepting manner.  Encourage community building by making introductions, including others in conversations, being available to play games or work puzzles.  Provide information and referrals to other community resources.  Assist staff with large and small group activities. Technology Center Attendant:  Assist patrons of the Women's Hearth with the use of computers in our computer lab.  Register new users, monitor flow and use and provide one on one instruction as necessary.  Must be able to present information with patience and clarity Certain contacts with the criminal justice system may bar participants as a volunteer.  Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.  Females only for volunteer positions within the Women's Hearth; however, both genders welcome for maintenance or other special projects and for Transitions agency wide annual events.
