About DOVIA of the Inland Northwest DOVIA started in the late 80's, meeting in the basement of the American Red Cross building. Typically 6-8 volunteer managers from different agencies attended, shared their brown-bag lunches, and talked about how, when, and where to recruit volunteers. At that time it also served a support group for volunteer managers. DOVIA charged $5 in dues at that time to raise funds to cover postage for the monthly meeting announcements. Today, DOVIA offers workshops and monthly educational programs, resource sharing, scholarships to other workshops and conferences, both local and national, professional development, and peer support to the many member agencies in Spokane County and surrounding areas. We participate in a Service Project as a group each December, and are currently forging partnerships with businesses in our community to promote volunteer opportunities. |
DOVIA of the Inland Northwest is committed to providing a connection between professionals and volunteers in order to expand knowledge, skill, ability and opportunity, and ultimately to lend a hand, making our community a better place.
